Chemical peelsChemical peels are wonderful and quick ways to improve the appearance of  the skin on the face, neck and hands. The chemical peel is used to exfoliate one or more layers of skin resulting in new, regenerated skin that is smoother and less wrinkled than the old skin. We offer several kinds of chemical peels.

Superficial peels utilize a mild acid to penetrate only the outer layer of skin for gentle exfoliation. This treatment is great for improving the appearance of mild skin discoloration and rough skin as well as to give the face, neck or hands a refreshed look.
Medium Peel are often glycolic or trichloracetic acid peels which penetrate the outer and middle layers of skin to remove damaged skin cells. It is useful for treating moderately photodamaged skin and as well as treating actinic keratoses, pigmentar dyschromias and to improve depressed scars.
Deep peels involve an inflammatory response to the deep reticular dermis causing new collagen production. Phenol peels are the deepest type of chemical peel and they address more serious imperfections such as blotchiness, coarse wrinkles and acne scars. They have more dramatic results.
What should I expect?
We will discuss your history with you including medications that you are on, if you have had  peels in the past, if you have a history of scarring or cold sores and if you currently have any skin conditions or medical problems. We will explain the procedure, analyze your skin and determine the right depth for you. We will then cleanse the skin and apply the chosen peel and then give you post-procedure instructions.
What is the down-time?
It depends on the kind of peel you get. There is generally no down-time for superficial peels however there may be a few days of peeling and redness with some of the medium to deep peels. Call today for your appointment.
